BP-2000 Blood Pressure Analysis System™ for Mice and
Rats
Thank you for your interest in the BP-2000 Blood Pressure Analysis
System™. The BP-2000 is the computerized, non-invasive tail-cuff system
that has revolutionized the process of measuring mouse and rat blood
pressure. In use in more than 100 research laboratories worldwide, it
is the de facto standard in transgenic and knockout mouse
research. The BP-2000 has been shown in peer-reviewed scientific research to give results that correlate closely with interarterial measurements (Krege JH, Hodgin JB, Hagaman JR, Smithies O, Hypertension. 1995; 25: 1111-1115).
The BP-2000 can rapidly
make multiple measurements simultaneously on up to four animals, without
operator intervention. With the BP-2000, you can efficiently and
accurately measure blood pressure on large animal populations, for
high-throughput phenotyping. The BP-2000 is capable of making measuring on one, two, or four
animals simultaneously, depending on the model. The BP-2000 can
be expanded as your research needs grow. For example, if you purchase a
single-channel system, you can later expand it to a two- or four-channel
system by simply upgrading your specimen platform. Similarly, you can start
out with a mouse system, and later add rat capability, by getting an
additional specimen platform - at a fraction of the cost of a new system. The BP-2000 offers unprecedented ease in managing your blood
pressure data. The built-in database instantly stores the results of
every measurement. The powerful Report Wizard™ allows you to
quickly create customized data reports that contain just the data you want to
see, in the way you want to see it. The data can be exported directly to
Microsoft Excel®, or imported into statistics programs for further analysis. A large and ever-growing number of research
papers have been published based on data obtained with the BP-2000
Blood Pressure Analysis System™. With the BP-2000, you can
rest assured that you are working with proven and accepted technology. BP-2000 Features

BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR Analog single-channel transducer signal
conditioner An analog signal conditioner for monitoring pressure, force, temperature, and other physical parameters provided by transducers, BP-1 Pressure Monitor is designed to monitor animal arterial or venous blood pressure, displaying systolic, diastolic or average blood pressure. BP-1 accepts any blood pressure transducer as well as other transducers (force, temperature, etc). An audio monitor provides a signal with variable pitch and amplitude, allowing you to hear changes in blood pressure. Digital LCD display provides average or peak signal values from 0 to 1999 mV. |

Cardiac Output Computer: Cardiomax III
The Cardiomax-III Thermodilution Cardiac Output Computer doubles as a physiological data acquisition system. The new thermodilution
cardiac computer interfaces directly to a Pentium desktop or laptop computer
via a very fast RS-232 link. It is intended to be used on a variety of lab
animals from mice to horses. In addition to measuring cardiac output and
associated parameters (SV, HR), the Cardiomax-III can be used to measure,
display, and log ECG (EKG) with its own low level amplifier and two (2) blood
pressures (DP, MP, SP, dp/dt). Storage of all parameter data is provided in
comma separted ASCII format for easy import into a variety of analysis
programs. The thermo-dilution curve image can also be saved. The
Cardiomax-III can use a variety of thermistor catheters as well as Columbus
Instruments' thermocouple microprobes. The Cardiomax-III's special design
makes it resistant to external radio signal interference and its small size
(35.5 x 29 x 10 cm) makes it very convenient in a crowded laboratory
environment. |

MPMS 100 Micro Pressure Measurement System The Micro Pressure Measurement System is the complete solution for
demanding pressure measurements using advanced optoelectronic technology—and
is the premier choice for a variety of pressure measurements where accurate
data, high speed, or small size are key features. The sensors are very small and well suited for application areas such
as: cardiovascular blood pressure, LVP from within the heart of a small
animal (mouse), intracranial pressure, intervertebral disc pressure,
pediatric intensive care respiratory monitoring, muscle pressure, and
pressure in the bladder or in the urinary tract. |
|
|
Intelligent electronics in conjunction with fiber optics produce accurate
data at high speed, making instantaneous pressure change analysis possible.
The electromagnetic immunity inherent in the technology makes pressure
measurement trouble-free, even in environments with high electromagnetic
field strength—such as in MRI applications. The system consists of an MPMS100 Control Unit and a TSD170 series
Micro Pressure Transducer (separate purchase). TSD170 Micro Pressure Transducer TSD171 Micro Pressure Transducer,
radio opaque (MRI-compatible) The Ø 0.42 mm optical transducer
is very stable, has a low temperature coefficient, and is easy to use. The
transducer is biocompatible and has intrinsic electrical isolation. The micro
dimensions of the transducer tip ensure a well-defined measurement location
and minimal influence on the measurement environment. The Control Unit is based on advanced optoelectronic technology. All
settings can be made on the front panel. Analog output and serial RS232 make
connection with a BIOPAC MP Unit easy. Measurement data can be monitored in
real time and stored for further data analysis. |

Automated Blood Sampler Instech's ABS110 automates
the collection of blood samples from a range of laboratory animal species
including rats, dogs and non-human primates. By eliminating labor-intensive
periodic manual withdrawals it can streamline drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics
studies. It also reduces the stress on animals that frequent handling can
cause. The automated sampler withdraws blood from a freely-moving animal
according to your programmed schedule, stores the samples in an integrated
refrigerated fraction collector, and replaces the withdrawn volumes with IV
fluid. It does all this work using only one fluid channel, leaving you a free
channel on a dual channel swivel for drug infusion, blood pressure monitoring
or other applications. An automatic calibration routine gives you the
flexibility to choose the catheters and tubing sets that work best for you. And
you can control and monitor sampling schedules, volumes and withdrawal rates
for up to twelve animals from a single PC or laptop. The system uses a series
of four integrated precision peristaltic pumps to sample blood, replace
fluids, inject air bubbles (to separate samples) and dispose of waste fluid. A
fifth pump is provided for IV drug administration or other applications using
a separate fluid channel |

The
TAILVEINER® is the first easy to use mouse and rat restrainer specifically
designed for tail vein injections. The slotted tube permits the rat or mouse to
be quickly pulled in by the tail. The animal is then restrained by a tapered
plug which slides easily to accommodate any size rat or mouse, but locks
automatically when handle is released. The tailveiner® is the fastest
restrainer yet for intravenous injections in small animals. Code
